Srinagar, Mar 17 (KNO): The Government on Monday said that of thirty two sanctioned posts for Sub District Hospital Akhnoor, only seven are lying vacant. Replying to the question of Mohan Lal Bagat, Health and Medical Education Department Minister Sakina Itoo, according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that the department acknowledges the concerns regarding staff positions at Sub-Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Akhnoor and Primary Health Centers (PHCs) in the Akhnoor constituency and would like to provide a detailed explanation of the present staffing situation and the steps being taken to address it. "At SDH Akhnoor, there are 32 sanctioned posts for doctors, out of which 25 posts are filled. The department is actively working to address vacancies by facilitating the recruitment process and improving overall healthcare delivery in the region," she said. "In the Primary Health Centers (PHCs) of Akhnoor constituency, there are 37 sanctioned posts for doctors, with 17 doctors presently working. Additionally, to further strengthen healthcare services in the area, 12 doctors have been deployed under the National Health Mission (NHM) to work across SDHS, PHCS, CHCs, and wellness centers in the Akhnoor block. This additional support significantly enhances the healthcare infrastructure and ensures that services continue to be provided to the community, despite the existing vacancies," Itoo said, as per KNO. Replying to a question of MLA Ghulam Mohiuddin Mir, Health Minister Sakina Itoo said that sub Centre Qasbayar was upgraded to the level of New Type Primary Health Centre (NTPHC) vide Govt. Order No. 585 (HME) of 2014 dated 17-10-2014 and presently functional as Health & Wellness Centre. "Besides, NTPHC Qasbayar doesn't conform to the population norms as per IPHS-2022 standards for up-gradation to the level of Primary Health Centre (PHC)," she said. "NTPHC Qasbayar is functional with One Medical Officer, one FMPHW (from NHM) and one safaiwala. The facility working in a rented accommodation is catering to basic healthcare needs of the populace of the village Qasbayar and adjoining areas,." she added. "A higher level Public Health Facility viz Community Health Centre (CHC) Rajpora is also catering to the secondary level healthcare at a distance 5 kms from NTPHC Qasbayar," Sakina added—(KNO)
